Here's my update on my spending in the last two weeks:
- $40 Hockey Tickets
- $20 on fast food before game and Sunday brunch
- $100 Groceries
- $16.81 Party Food and Snacks for myself
- $11.27 Party Food and hand soap
- $14.63 Filing Taxes (I actually saved $3 by paying earlier)
- $25 Gas
- $21.55 Hair Dye products
The hockey tickets, as explained in the last expense report, was an event I agreed on before I made the decision to get financially organized. As well as the fast food that I ate before the game. It was a fun experience so I think it was worth the expense in the end.
My groceries can definitely use some tweaking, I'm very bad at getting items that don't cost as much and I'm really bad at cooking, something I need to work on. Although, I did use a $25 mastercard gift card that I got from my birthday so I actually spent $75. I've been tempted to eat out a couple times but just remembered my goal and for someone who ate out constantly, I think I did pretty well.
For party food, we had a few guests over that was sort of unexpected. I thought by going to a bulk store for snacks would reduce the cost but let's just say I bought more than I needed.
As part of one of my exceptions, I bought some hair dye and the accessories (bowl and brush) to fix my roots. Although I could get pharmacy box dye, I've had very bad luck with it. Fortunately, my co-worker used to be a hairdresser and helped me choose the correct colouring and the product is a much better quality.
I also managed to save an additional $130 this month so that's a total of $530 to put in my emergency fund. Not too bad for my first month. Now just imagine what I could save if I got rid of my car. ;)
